This policy explains our commitment to the Five Freedoms principles and how our platform supports animal welfare.

Five Freedoms

The Vetigen platform supports the following Five Freedoms:

  • 1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst - nutrition and hydration tracking
  • 2. Freedom from Discomfort - environment and housing records
  • 3. Freedom from Pain, Injury, and Disease - pain management and treatment
  • 4. Freedom to Express Normal Behavior - behavioral assessments
  • 5. Freedom from Fear and Distress - low-stress examination protocols

Pain Management

Vetigen provides features to facilitate pain management:

  • Pain assessment scores (pain scales)
  • Pain management protocols and reminders
  • Pain medication tracking and efficacy monitoring
  • Automatic alerts when pain levels increase

Euthanasia Protocols

Euthanasia decisions are extremely sensitive and must comply with the following principles:

  • Medical indications must be clearly documented
  • Informed consent must be obtained from the animal owner
