Overview

This Account Deletion Policy explains how PetConnect app users can request deletion of their account and personal data. We are committed to giving you control over your information.

Account deletion is a permanent action. Once your account is deleted, you will lose access to all associated data and services. Please read this policy carefully before proceeding.

How to Delete Your Account

You can request account deletion through the following methods:

In-App Deletion (Recommended)

  1. Open the PetConnect app and log in to your account
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon in the menu)
  3. Tap on 'Account' or 'Privacy Settings'
  4. Select 'Delete Account'
  5. Confirm your identity and follow the prompts to complete deletion

Email Request

If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by sending an email to our privacy team. Please include your registered email address and phone number for verification.

Please allow 3-5 business days for email requests to be processed.

Data That Will Be Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently removed:

  • Your profile information (name, email, phone number, profile photo)
  • Pet profiles you created (names, photos, basic information)
  • Appointment history and upcoming appointments
  • Messages and communication history with clinics
  • App preferences and notification settings
  • Photos and files you uploaded to your account

Data That May Be Retained

Certain data may be retained even after account deletion for legal and operational reasons:

  • Medical Records: Veterinary medical records are maintained by clinics as required by professional regulations and may be retained for the legally mandated period (typically 5-10 years)
  • Transaction Records: Payment and billing records may be retained for tax and accounting purposes as required by law
  • Legal Compliance: Data may be retained if required for legal proceedings, regulatory compliance, or fraud prevention

Retained data is anonymized where possible and stored securely in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Processing Time

Account deletion requests are typically processed within 30 days of verification. During this period, your account will be deactivated and inaccessible.

You may receive a confirmation email once the deletion process is complete. If you do not receive confirmation within 30 days, please contact our support team.

Cooling-Off Period: After submitting a deletion request, you have 7 days to cancel the request by logging back into your account. After this period, the deletion cannot be reversed.

Consequences of Account Deletion

Please be aware of the following consequences before deleting your account:

  • You will immediately lose access to your PetConnect account
  • Your appointment history and pet health timeline will be permanently deleted
  • You will no longer receive vaccination reminders or health alerts
  • Direct communication with clinics through the app will no longer be available
  • Account recovery after deletion is not possible - you would need to create a new account

Account Reactivation

During the 7-day cooling-off period, you can cancel your deletion request by simply logging back into your account. Your account and data will be restored.

After the deletion is processed, reactivation is not possible. If you wish to use PetConnect again, you will need to create a new account and re-enter your information.
